“The Overcoming Life!”
“Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of His knowledge by us in every place.” – 2 Corinthians 2:14
This is a very powerful verse of scripture. Let’s look at what is says to us. We should always apply the Word of God to ourselves personally, that’s how it can best change us.
First of all, what is the heart of this scripture? That we can always triumph! But Brother Bill, some might say, “It doesn’t look like I’m always triumphing!” Well, you must have not fulfilled the conditions of that verse of of scripture. If you meet the conditions, you’ll have the promise! What are the conditions? Let’s see! First, that you have knowledge of God’s Word. Why? So that you can make the very savour of His knowledge manifest by you in every place! You must have knowledge before you can make it known.
Secondly, you must praise God and give Him thanks. “Should we praise God for everything, Brother Bill?” NO! Don’t praise God for everything. To praise Him for everything would require you to praise Him for sickness and disease. God is not the Author of that mess, Satan is! Satan is the oppressor! (Acts 10:38, John 10: 10) Don’t praise God for everything, but rather give Him praise in everything. That’s the scriptural thing to do, as a matter of fact, it is His will that you praise Him in everything. (1 Thess. 5:18) Why? Because praise is strength! Besides, God is always worthy of praise!
If we would commit to do these two things we could stand on this scripture and believe God to cause us to always, continually, triumph in everything that we do. That is the overcoming life that God intends that we live. We are, indeed, more than conquerors! (Romans 8:37)
